This vineyard is planted between Three Sisters Vineyard and Blue Slide Ridge. There is actual wild thyme growing on this property, hence its name, plus our family has always loved having wild times…so how can we resist a name like that? The land was previously owned by George Seafelt who was an immigrant and lived off the land, and was an occasional ranch hand for many of his neighbors. He was known to bury his money in the ground somewhere on his property, which made people assume he was richer than he was. This eventually got him killed by a felon and his girlfriend who were hired by Seafelt as ranch hands, looking for his loot. Seafelt was an adult when George Charles was a young boy. George tells stories of Seafelt being around his father, and having a very strong stutter. One day as the men were chatting about their flock, weather and land, Seafelt’s stutter got the best of him and his false teeth flew right out of his mouth onto the dirt. Their sheepdog did not miss a beat and snatched up those newly freed teeth and ran away with them. George’s father had to chastise the dog into coming back and dropping the teeth Seafelt so treasured. Seafelt, not to miss a beat, picked up his teeth, wiped them twice on his overalls and popped them right back in his mouth to finish his point.
